Happy New Year with clay!

So I got it in my head that making silicone molds would be really fun...
Then I thought, well, I need 3D clay figures of whatever creature I want to make a mold off, which led to...a whole lot of disappointment.

Check out the results of my clay sculpting escapades at your own risk.

This is the design I was working off from, based on one of my Just Put An Eye On It! characters...

...and this the clay model.

Needless to say I won't be entering this Stan Winston School creature sculpting contest anytime soon...even if I'm the only one who could really benefit from the prize! Go check out the entries to see what I'm talking about. They are good! If you are a sculpting enthousiast the deadline is January 15 2017, so you've got time.

This little fellow didn't turn out so bad though...did he?

Maybe I'll try to make a mold out of him.

to be continued...

A Drop of Advice: Drawing, Speed Coloring & Electric Shock

Just an update to post this drawing. I'm convinced sketching and coloring something for only a few seconds can prevent you from making a rush decision. Generally, in life, this helps.

If that doesn't work, apparently, giving yourself a "lightning-quick electric shock" can help too. Be your own 60's insane asylum professional!

Discussion Topic: Logos, The US 2016 Way

Logos, The US 2016 Way
by Georgevine Moss

OK, so…since the subject of logos has been touched before on this blog, let’s give this one a try.

This post on LinkedIn doesn't have very nice things to say about the logo used for Ms. Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Perhaps one could say the logo as appears on the campaign website looks a bit “hospitaly”, maybe not. Either way, using the same idea, here’s a modification of the logo.

Bonus Question: Does going through this list of candidates make you want to go all House of Cards on them? Or perhaps you'd prefer a Veep version?

If anyone cares, here's a possible analysis of the above logo in bullet points:

  • H: obvious, but here's spelled out: the first letter of the candidate's first name; also, representing two strong pillars or / and--if you want to get really creative--the front of the White House
  • Arrow: moving in a direction...um, slightly upwards?
  • 16: stands for 2016, going for the in-your-face look 16 is written with objects that resemble stars
  • in-your-face look: stars and colors that might in a stretched way make one subconsciously think of the American Flag
UPDATE: Here's another LinkedIn post on the matter. I guess I fell for the stars, huh?

ONEWOMANMEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT

Recently (December 2014 , but only found out recently (a few days...a week tops)), at least one person has come forth at a forum and expressed the desire to read--at some point in time--the (still) only one available novel presented on this blog.

No one can be completely sure whether this one person managed to read the book via any means available. Regardless of what may have happened or whether anyone ever actually wanted to do it, it has been decided to offer one more way of doing it (that is reading the book...).

So, as of the beginning of April 2015 and for a yet undecided period of time, Dementia's Google Books preview will be set at 100% and with the option of a downloadable PDF.

Thank you.

Also, let's take this opportunity to express gratitude for the first person (second as we speak, counting the AMAZON site) who chose to publicly express his/her opinion of the short story MINERS by giving it 4 stars on the KOBO website, as well as the second person who followed two days later with a couple more. Many thanks all around.

Happenstances: When the Online World Meshes with Fiction or the Other Way Around

Happenstances: When the Online World Meshes with Fiction or the Other Way Around

by Georgevine Moss

Happens once, who cares... Happens twice, share it?

Happenstance #1:  Soon after having finished reading Dark Origins by CSI creator Anthony E. Zuiker watched this fencing video on YouTube and was reminded of the novel's character Sqweegel (how he moved after breaking in a house in order not to be detected).

Happenstance #2:  Stumbled upon a tweet with a link to this petition about Cafe Edison, then a few hours later continued reading Joseph Geary's novel Spiral and happened to read a passage where Hotel Edison is mentioned.

How about you?  Have you ever had any such inter-media connections happen to you?

The picture above uses an image from Google maps and the novel's (Spiral) cover illustrated by Pocket Books Fiction (www.simonsays.co.uk) along with a scan of the passage I mentioned from the novel.

Let's Play a Game

The next Georgevine Moss novel will be dark (what else is new?) and the story will be taking place in that very strange place where Mrs. Lombard was able to rest in peace by cursing everything and everyone (and we do mean everyone) and where two very nice scientists got to see one of those rare species not even a Noble prize-starved academic would ever wish to discover.

The title is comprised of four words:

1. a verb +
2. a preposition +
3. an article +
4. a name

The title is case sensitive. Tip: First and last words in capital letters.

Can you guess the title?

Can't see the answers? Scroll the little bar to the right in the app above, or use the arrows of course.

TV Pilots

TV Pilots

by Georgevine Moss

Here are a couple of TV scripts.

The first one is an action comedy called Figure It Out. You can read it here.

Logline

A brilliant sixteen year old solves real crimes through a murder mystery video game weekly competition.

Pilot Summary

Mike solves another murder by identifying the killer in the Solve it! Videogame competition only this time the killer is real and he has kidnapped one of Mike's classmates. Mike becomes the next target and he has to solve the mystery before anyone dies.

The second script was written after hearing about there being demand on the following concept: ghosts in medicine. The series would be called The Plan and it would be about a new hospital which is run by all the right people with expertise in their respective fields, personal faults and no pulse. You can check it out here.

The Poltergeist of All Hallows Eve

The Poltergeist of All Hallows Eve

by Georgevine Moss

So...there's this poltergeist that really likes candy. Since it doesn't need a costume, Halloween is the perfect excuse to come out in the open, go around the neighborhood and knock on some doors to ask for some freaking CANDY.

What happens then? Watch the video to find out. Suffice it to say, it proves to be a tough crowd.

Did you like the video? Please share!

If you enjoy your Halloween festivities with a little bit of humor then you'll want to check out this caught-in-the-headlights bat t-shirt! and of course the Hug Me If You Can Baby Ghost T-Shirt!

Marijuana Law

Unemployment, re-employment, mentors, start-ups, marijuana.  All subjects that have preoccupied the collective mind of the internet in one way or another...Don't believe me? Here's a recent article on marijuana and the problems it can cause.  It's titled: "Lawyers Debate Best Ways To Sell Marijuana--No Joke."

After reading a few articles about marijuana state legalization and a completely unrelated article about what you ought to give back to the people who are sacrificing their time to mentor you, well, let's just say I thought there might be a joke somewhere in between the two topics.

So I tried to write a comedy, a script based on the idea of following a white-collar, recently long-term unemployed man who decides to open up his own business. His product? Pot. The first step of his plan? Get a mentor of course.

How did that work out? Not well. There's probably quite a bit of fun in all of the 86 pages of the script, but the story isn't there. Not the one I described above anyway...

Curious for a title? Here it is.

Oh, well...on with the next project. If you're interested in reading the script anyway you can do so here.
