Happenstances: When the Online World Meshes with Fiction or the Other Way Around

Happenstances: When the Online World Meshes with Fiction or the Other Way Around

by Georgevine Moss

Happens once, who cares... Happens twice, share it?

Happenstance #1:  Soon after having finished reading Dark Origins by CSI creator Anthony E. Zuiker watched this fencing video on YouTube and was reminded of the novel's character Sqweegel (how he moved after breaking in a house in order not to be detected).

Happenstance #2:  Stumbled upon a tweet with a link to this petition about Cafe Edison, then a few hours later continued reading Joseph Geary's novel Spiral and happened to read a passage where Hotel Edison is mentioned.

How about you?  Have you ever had any such inter-media connections happen to you?

The picture above uses an image from Google maps and the novel's (Spiral) cover illustrated by Pocket Books Fiction (www.simonsays.co.uk) along with a scan of the passage I mentioned from the novel.
